An Annual Summer Music Academy in Italy

We are pleased to announce the ilSUONO's collaboration with the Italian volinist Chiara Franceschini.
Chiara joins the instrumental formation of the resident ensemble to add a unique vocal color, benefitting the participants by expanding the pool of timbral possibilities for their new works.
Born in Perugia (Italy), Chiara Franceschini graduated cum laude aged seventeen at the Conservatorio di Musica di Perugia (Diploma in Violin). Under the guidance of Felice Cusano she attended a postgraduate course at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Florence, Italy) and then moved to Germany, where she studied at the Musikhochschule Münster (Master of Music in Performance – Violin, Zertifikatstudienjahr) in the class of Helge Slaatto. In July 2016 she took the best note (1.0 with honours) at her Master’s final recital, playing works of Berio, Dallapiccola, Brahms and Respighi. She took part in various international masterclasses with, amongst others, Vadim Brodsky, Cristiano Rossi, Seran Lim, Hansheinz Schneeberger, Francesco e Angelo Pepicelli (Trio Metamorphosi), Laura Pietrocini e Marco Fiorentini (Ars Trio di Roma), Ulrich Beetz e Birgit Erichson (Abegg Trio).
Chamber music plays an important role in her artistic activity: as a chamber musician, she performs regularly in Italy and abroad for renowned cultural associations, including A.Gi.Mus., John Cabot University, Associazione Italia Nostra, Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now, Gesellschaft für Neue Musik Münster, Kunststiftung NRW, LWL-Kulturstiftung Westfalen-Lippe, Kusatsu Festival, Umbria Jazz, Birdland Jazz Club New York; furthermore, she collaborates with various professional symphony and chamber orchestras (Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio, Orchestra Stabile del Molise, Orchestra da Camera di Perugia, EinKlang Philharmonie Münster, Sinfonieorchester Münster, Kourion-Orchester Münster).
She is especially devoted to contemporary music: in 2015 she won the first prize in the competition ‘Musik von heute’ as the first violin of a string quartet, performing works of Erkki-Sven Tüür – in presence of the composer – and John Cage. She participated in the International Ensemble Modern Academy 2017 (Klangspuren Schwaz, Austria), with Sofia Gubaidulina as composer in residence, and in the Lucerne Festival Academy 2018 and 2019, as well as in the Lucerne Festival Alumni, performing in the Berliner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and Philharmonie de Paris under the baton of Matthias Pintscher, Péter Eötvös, Simon Rattle, George Benjamin and Riccardo Chailly. Since 2016 she collaborates with Consord, a German ensemble for New Music based in the state of North Rhine- Westphalia.
Beside her professional career in music, she studied at the Università degli Studi di Perugia and in 2014 was awarded Masters in Classical Humanities with honours. Her Master's thesis about consonance and dissonance in the ancient Greek music was honoured with a prize by MOISA - International Society for the Study of Greek and Roman Music and its Cultural Heritage.
