Born in 1992, Nuño Fernández Ezquerra began his musical path studying classical percussion. From 2011 to 2015, he studied composition at ESMUC in Barcelona with Agustí Charles and Mauricio Sotelo where he graduated with honors. Currently, he is finishing a master's degree in composition at the Sibelius Academy of Helsinki under the guidance of Lauri Kilpiö.

 

He was the winner of the composition contest of the OSCYL (Symphonic Orchestra of Castile and León) in 2017 and was awarded the the 3rd prize in the contest “Jóvenes Compositores 2014” of the SGAE/CNDM Foundation. In addition, he received scholarships from the Caja de Burgos Foundation and the Martin Wegelius Foundation in recognition to his academic and professional merits.

 

His works had been programmed in numerous festivals, amongst which stand out the 7th Contemporary Music Concert Series of the BBVA Foundation, Festival MIXTUR (2017 and 2015 editions), OUT.SIDE 2016 Concert Series, Festival Spanish Brass Alzira 2015, played by ensembles such as CrossingLines, Espai Sonor and the Black Page Orchestra amongst other chamber groups and soloists.

 

He had attended courses, master-classes and seminars with Kaija Saariaho, Salvatore Sciarrino, Raphaël Cendo, Mauro Lanza, José María Sánchez Verdú, Pedro Alcalde, and the singer Barbara Hannigan, amongst others.
